Eddie's Linux Blog

Project Overview

A personal technical blog covering Linux, self-hosting, open-source software, and home lab projects. Built on a custom Laravel CMS with full markdown authoring support, category tagging, and a clean reading-focused UI. Hosted entirely on a Synology NAS and publicly accessible at blog.power-nas.info.

Key Features

  • Custom Laravel CMS -- full admin panel for writing, editing, publishing, and scheduling posts.
  • Markdown authoring -- posts are written in Markdown and rendered server-side for fast, clean output.
  • Category and tag system -- posts organised by topic for easy discovery.
  • Responsive reading UI -- clean, mobile-optimised design with good typography and reading flow.
  • RSS feed -- standard RSS endpoint for feed readers.
  • SEO-ready -- canonical URLs, Open Graph meta tags, and a generated sitemap.

Technical Highlights

Built on Laravel 11 with a MySQL backend, served by Nginx on a home Synology NAS. The admin panel uses Laravel authentication and policy-based access control. Posts are stored as Markdown in the database and rendered on request, keeping the authoring experience simple while the output stays clean and fast.
